dire-
With six hours worth of top 40 playing in my headphones every weekday morning, I'm left with a kind of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" mentality, and I'm more or less forced to find whatever there it is that's positive that I can in this crap.

When I worked in rock radio, it was only slightly better, because in the mix with all of the stuff I actually did like, e.g., Floyd, Zep, Stones, Beatles, and the occasional Touch of Grey, Casey Jones, or Truckin' (okay, I plead guilty: sometimes my listeners were forced to sit through Hell in a Bucket, I Need a Miracle, Alabama Getaway----oops! Did I just play Scarlet Begonias?), I also had to put up with Scorpions, Motley Crue, and Crazy Train (egads! What a horrid song!) My roots go back pretty far and I was listening to a lot of stuff pre-Dead that might be considered trite. My parents were driven nuts by Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple. So it is some comfort to me to know that it's not beneath me to get enjoyment out of music that just ain't the great stuff we're accustomed to discussing here.

Am I rushing out to buy Christina's new CD?

Are there blizzards in today's forecast for Hell?

At least she doesn't induce epileptic seizures, which is more than I can say for Kelly Clarkson.

You like Christina Aguilera more than Crazy Train? You must be on some good shit. That is the most ridicules thing I think I have ever heard, and that is pretty bad considering that I have been spouting nonsense and bullshit for 20 years straight now. You do know the guy who sings that song was in Black Sabbath, right? The band you mention at the end. I knew I should not have clicked this link... I guess the guitar work by Randy Rhoads on that song does not compare technically to the garage band loops that some lazy ass producer threw together for "strangled cat girl" to warble over. Carmine Apice is a lousy drummer also??? Alice Cooper is retarded, KISS was corny, but come on... Ozzy? Please, he did some corny shit towards the end but I never meant anyone that didn't like that song. Even my grandmother likes him and she is old.

Oh how condescension and "better than thou" comments paint pictures of someone's personality. Thanks for informing us of your narcissistic nature and elitist chatroom territorial domination. Peace!

i was only bustin on ya man. i haven't heard the tune, so i can't even comment. certainly wasn't really raggin on ya.

to be honest, you've made it sound almost intruiging - i know Aguilara kinda changed her whole sound lately from what ive read.

Oh, I know that. The title of the post indicates that I was prepared for slings and arrows galore. We're talking Christina Aguilera here, not somebody who is obviously widely accpted here, like, oh, I don't know, maybe Prince.
